Author Biography

Christian Schuhböck

 Christian Schuhböck, graduated in engineering, is General Secretary of the Alliance for Nature, an organization for the protection of nature, culture, and landscapes. He is also a court expert witness for environmental protection, landscape ecology, and landscape management. He has been active for more than 20 years for the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, where he has brought the Semmering railway and the Wachau valley into the group of World Heritage sites, and for many years has organized initiatives for the protection of threatened natural landscapes and cultural monuments. A passionate photographer, he has personally visited around 300 of the more than 900 World Heritage sites. As a journalist and prizewinning landscape ecologist, he often reports on nature and cultural topics for newspapers and trade journals, gives lectures on “World Heritage,†and leads World Heritage trips. He is the author of several books on the UNESCO World Heritage.
