One Facebook group has repeatedly caught the media’s attention. The group is called "Israel" is not a country!... ... Delist it from Facebook as a country! Despite the opinions of experts who highlighted the racist nature of the group, Facebook refused to take action. After unsuccessfully lobbying Facebook for intervention, a organization known as the Jewish Internet Defense Force took control of the Facebook group in late July 2008 and began to manually dismantle it from the inside. The rise and fall of this group highlights open questions on the right response to online hate in user generated content.Downloads
